The Illinois GIS Initiative

USGS Launched their new Map Viewer yesterday.  The site is at http://viewer.nationalmap.gov/viewer/.  It is fast and robust.  Double click to zoom in, drag to pan, or explore the advanced tools.  Layers and Topo GeoPDFs are downloadable.  Some of the advanced features are not immediately obvious - for more detailed information check out their guide: http://tnm2beta.cr.usgs.gov/help/index.html 

The NSGIC Board formally endorsed the “A Proposal for Reinvigorating the American Economy Through Investment in the US National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI)”. This proposal was put out by Autodesk, Google, Intergraph, Microsoft & Oracle.

Indiana network uses a Web portal for linking local resources with state and federal agencies in the event of a disaster.
